Jatropha

IRTP Holdings is looking at Investments in the Bio-Fuel sector, with particular emphasis on producing oil from Jatropha seeds. We are looking to invest in a number of plantation projects as we believe that alternative energy production is one of the most exciting emerging markets, and one that will become more interesting due to the finite nature of fossil fuels. Jatropha as a bio-fuel is especially interesting as it grows well on marginal land, so does not compete with food crops, the seeds have a high oil content, and the refined oil produced has been successfully used as aviation fuel. With an increase in demand for oil and gas, an increase in the world’s population and the subsequent result of global warming this is a sector that will see rapid investment and growth over the next 10 years.

We are looking at projects in Asia, Africa and South America and we expect to make our first investment in 2010.

We will increase the yields on sites we own by incorporating solar panels to the roof space and where possible above the parking. We are in discussions with various financing groups, and this is a strategy we intend to role out on as many projects as is viable.
